The Co-operative bank has for a long time been an ethical bank, and according to their research so or the majority of UK residents too, in fact they estimate that around sixty one per cent of the UK population think about ethical issues when it comes to shopping.

The top ethical concerns for shoppers:

1. Use of plastic bags

2. Fair-trade issues

3. Animal testing for cosmetics

4. Climate change

5. Energy ratings of household appliances

ITEM - % of people who buy ethically:

Coffee - 35%

Eggs - 34%

Tea - 31%

Recycled paper - 30%

Meat - 30%

Make-up - 24%

Chocolate - 23%

Light bulbs - 21%

Women’s Clothing - 20%

It shows that people are now thinking about the future and what the whole world will be like for generations to come; this is a major step towards changing the way that the whole world thinks about ethical shopping.
