Escaped Emu heads for Wal Mart
Naturally having escaped the enclosure that has been your home for a couple years, the very first place that you would want to visit a store belonging to one of the largest supermarket chains in the world. Which is exactly what Myron the Emu did.
Surprised shoppers watched staff as they tried to capture the big bird, finally they came up with the idea of using shopping trolleys to build a make shift coral and prevent to bird from escaping and possibly being injured. Staff even fed the Emu with grapes and apples while they waited for the owner Richard Takacs to turn up.
It is believed that the Emu had been chased off by a coyote from the farm that has been the Emu’s home. An Emu can run at over 65 kph, grow up to two metres tall and weigh 45 kilos, luckily Wal Mart have no plans to offer Emu to their customers, yet!
