Microsoft’s free security measures

It was a bit of a shock when Microsoft announced that they would be dropping the £30 per year Windows Live OneCare service in favour of a new product, which has been initially named Morro.

This service offers free anti malware, viruses, root kits, Trojans, spyware and other threats yet to appear on the scene.

By providing this service, Microsoft have once again shown that can develop a product and literally give it away, this is bound have a serious effect on other software providers who offer similar services but have to charge for it.

This move could change the way the computer security market is run at the moment, which is not necessarily a good thing, because threats evolve and require the input from experts, which has a price attached to it.
