Bank accounts for sale

Identity thieves have obtained the banking details for around three in four German households a magazine is reporting.

To prove the point the thieves have put the details up for sale with an asking price of around £10 million, this money will buy the detail of twenty one million German bank accounts.

In an attempt to force the issue a couple of journalists posed as would be buyers and met up with the thieves in a hotel, they were presented with a CD that contained the names, addresses, date of births, account numbers and sort codes of just over a million bank account holders.

Experts say that the account holders affected can expect at some to see money taken from their accounts.

It is believed that the details have been obtained through people who are working in call centres.
