Netbooks out selling Laptops

The introduction of the smaller and cheaper mini laptops is having a serious affect on the sale of PC’s and full size laptop computers, this could have some serious long term effects on the development of new hardware in the future.

Not only that software providers such as Microsoft are also suffering as these handheld computers that have been specifically designed to be used with mobile broadband are often loaded with open source software.

Have we finally seen the end of the high end PC and moved into a more portable technology, or is this a passing fad that has been created by clever marketing from the mobile broadband providers in order to sign new customers up. The answer will be known when the current contracts begin to run out.
