Eating your veg is not so good

For as long as anyone can remember children and adults have been told to eat their fruit and veg, but according to recent research by Donald R. Davis, a former research associate with the Biochemical Institute at the University of Texas, Austin, we need to much more than we first thought.

This is not because they have got their figures wrong, it is down the fact that fruit and veg just is not the same as it was in the past, some estimates are claiming that the nutrient and mineral levels in fruit and veg are anything between 5% and 40% less than they were fifty years ago.

This means that anyone relying on fruit and veg to provide their daily requirements of vitamins and minerals, could be seriously under estimating the amount required.
