Is eBay infected with malware?

The website that offers consumers auction tools to be used on eBay has been highlighted as being infected with malware. The Trojan horse software has been found on the servers at auctiva.com and has been known to have infected users computers.

It was the malware warning system provided by Google that highlighted this problem, as users tried to use the website; they were warned that the website could be infected with malware.

The malware is known to have originated in China and appears to go after users of the Internet Explorer browser, auctiva.com are recommending that consumers use the Firefox browser, as this would be safer than IE.
