Getting more fibre

Whatever diet you look at there is more than likely going to be some sort of element of fibre required, this is essential for healthy living. But with so much being spoken about how good fibre is for us, but how can good sources of fibre be introduced into an already balanced diet.

Below are some quick tips that can help anyone wanting to increase their fibre intake but without having to go out of their way.

Eat cereal every day for breakfast
Eat two apples every day
Make a yogurt mix every Wednesday for breakfast
Eat baby carrots and broccoli florets dipped into low-fat ranch dressing
Add kidney beans or chickpeas to your next salad
Make sure that the first ingredient in whole grain products has the word “whole” in it
Use whole wheat bread to make your sandwich every day
Make beans a part of at least one meal a day
Add pureed cauliflower to mashed potatoes
Eat the skin of your baked and sweet potatoes
Start every dinner with a mixed green salad
Use beans or lentils as the main protein source for dinner
