Big Bird for dinner
There was a time when a simple chicken or turkey would have been great for a nice Christmas lunch, but times change and so do the demands of the consumer, which is probably why we are seeing some really different main course being offered in restaurants and now also available for the dinner at home.
Multi bird roasts date back to the Tudor times, but it was “River Cottage” man Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall who gave the UK a bird that contained ten other birds. But two years on the multi bird roast has become very popular and there are several on the market.
One in particular is the £665, 48 bird multi roast from the Heal Farm Shop in Devon. This roast will take over eight hours to cook and contains over 50,000 calories! Anyone for nut roast?
